The HPC systems at CSCS provide a range of vendor-supplied operating systems and programming environments, as well as a number of third-party software applications.
CSCS also provides a team of experts to support the scientific community. The duties provided by the Scientific Computing group include:
- Managing a portfolio of optimised scientific applications across all CSCS HPC platforms.
- Comparing the performance of similar applications in a particular field of research.
- Decreasing time-to-solution through code analysis and optimization.
- Working with the data analysis and visualization group on appropriate I/O strategies and data formats.
- Enabling new problems to be solved by increasing scalability of applications.
- Using scheduling and priority setting policies to ensure fair access for all projects.
