Rosa - Cray XT5
Scratch filesystem /scratch
All CSCS HPC platforms have a scratch filesystem as a fast workspace for temporary storage. The emphasis is placed on performance rather than reliability. There are no quotas enforced on /scratch, however files are deleted when space is needed for running jobs.
Data stored on /scratch are NOT backed up. Users are advised to copy valuable data to the /project filesystem or to the /archive (if allowed).
Please, do not use "touch jobs" to prevent the cleaning policy, because this deprives the community of a shared resource.
Eiger - Dalco SM System
Scratch filesystem /scratch
Eiger has a scratch space (/scratch/eiger/user_name) of about 66 TB connected via high speed QDR IB interconnect. Note that this storage is not backed up and is cleared on regular intervals so please ensure that you do not target this as a long term storage.
Access to the shared storage (/project) is also available thru the high speed interconnect. For further information regarding transfer of large amount of data, please contact help(at)cscs.ch.
