Paul Scherrer Institute
The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), located in Villigen, Switzerland, is a multi-disciplinary research centre for natural sciences and technology. PSI collaborates with national and international universities, other research institutions, and industry in the areas of solid-state research and material sciences, particle physics and astrophysics, life sciences, energy research and environmental research. In 2005, CSCS and PSI joined forces in order to procure a new massively-parallel flagship computer, a Cray XT3 system. In 2009 PSI bought into the new Cray XT5 upgrade that consists of 3688 2.4GHz quad-core "Shanghai" AMD Opteron processor. Since then PSI is happily using its share on «Monte Rosa».
