CSCS is running GPFS as global parallel file system and Lustre for the HPC systems as local scratch such as the Cray XT5. Our current projects are focused on the utilization of SSDs within GPFS (see "Detailed Performance Analysis of Solid State Disks" ») and the implementation of a HSM and backup solution for GPFS. Our group also observes the current development of Lustre and the deployment of advanced technologies for this special purpose file system.
