If you wish to submit a production project where you need high memory, you can apply for Monte Leone a small high memory cluster (700 GB per node). To submit a proposal you need (in pdf format):

  • Your project proposal including
    • Abstract
    • Scientific goals and objectives
    • Description of the research methods, algorithms, and codes
    • Clear demonstration of high memory need
  • Your curriculum vitae
  • Your list of publications

Who can apply?

Proposers must hold at least the position of post-doc within their institution.

PhD students CANNOT apply on their own, but instead must do so in consultation with, and under the auspices of, their supervisor. In such cases the supervisor should be identified as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project.

High Memory Cluster

Monte Leone is  a small cluster with only 20 nodes, therefore cannot be used in replacement of Piz Daint. Only one and two node jobs are allowed. Keep in mind that like for the  other systems we do not provide any licensed software, if you need such you need to install it yourself with your own license. Of course if you run into problems CSCS staff will always support you.

For the time being High-Mem proposals can be submitted at any time, the resource request cannot be excessive due to the limited size of the system.

Review process and decision

High-Mem projects will undergo technical review by CSCS experts and scientific review by 1 international peer reviewer, if needed. the reviewing process will be completed whenever possible within a month from submission.
