Mönch, named after a mountain in the Bernese Alps, elevation 4107m, is the PASC cluster.
This machine is a 10 rack NEC-provided Intel-based system with 4 login nodes, 376 standard compute nodes, 40 large-memory compute nodes (64GB RAM), 24 huge-memory compute nodes (256GB RAM) and 8 servers to provide I/O to Lustre.
Each of the standard compute nodes consists of 2 Intel 10-core Ivy Bridge EP E5-2660v2 processors, offering 20 cores per node. The nominal frequency of this CPU is 2.2 GHz, the effective frequency in turbo mode is typically 2.5 GHz. Each compute node has 32GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM.
The 4 login nodes have the same processors and amount of memory as the compute nodes.
In total there are 7,520 compute cores and over 18.7 Terabytes of memory available on the compute nodes.
