Webinar: Using uenv on Alps

Webinar
Free

The Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (ETH Zurich / CSCS) is pleased to announce the webinar “Using uenv on Alps”, to be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 CEST.

Content

This webinar will introduce you to the uenv tool used by CSCS to provide applications and programming environments on Alps.

The first part will be an overview of how to use uenv on Alps:
* how to find and download software;
* how to start uenv, and what happens behind the scenes when a uenv is started;
* how to use uenv to compile and run applications;
* how to use uenv in SLURM jobs.

We will then offer some hints, tips and best practices for using uenv.

Finally, there will be a practical walkthrough of compiling and running a "real world" application that has a less than perfect build process common in the HPC world.
