The Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) is pleased to announce the online course "Scientific Visualization," which will be held from May 17 to 18, 2021 (CEST Timezone).

9.00-10.00: "Visualization on Piz Daint with Jupyter notebooks" 2D and 3D visualization with matplotlib and itkwidgets. Movie making.

10:30-11:00 "Remote visualization on Piz Daint"

      Connecting a desktop application (Visit or ParaView) to a remote server

      Using a VNC remote desktop

11:00-12:00 "ParaView introduction"

       Basic usage of the desktop application (for beginner users)

       3D interaction

       Scalar field visualization

       Vector filed visualization

       Selection and query-based filtering

       Animation

13:30-14:30 "ParaView Python Scripting"

      pvpython and pvbatch

      numpy interface

14:30-15:00 Break and Q&A

15:00-15:55 Volume rendering

15:55-16.00 Participants voting to select tomorrow's Special Topic

16:00-16.15 Break

16:15-17.00 Exercise with a time-dependent data series and a mix of techniques seen during the day

Registration for this program is free-of-charge. Mentors and learning materials are offered by CSCS.

All participants must register for the course. Registered attendees will receive the ZOOM details for participation at the email provided a few days prior to the workshop start. The link and password you will receive are unique to you and should not be shared with others.

Deadline for registration: Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

Please note that the workshop can take place only if there are sufficient registrations received by the deadline. The minimum number of participants is eight. Registration for the course will automatically close when we reach the maximum number of participants.
