This year the CSCS-USI Summer School was held from July 16 to 27, and thanks to a collaboration with Virginia Tech, took place for the first time at the Steger Center in Riva San Vitale. Among the 21 participants, from Switzerland and abroad, there were undergraduatestudents, Ph.D. students, postdocs and researchers, who attended lectures on the following topics:
• GPU architecture
• GPU programming with CUDA and OpenACC
• Message-passing programming models and GPUDirect
• Performance optimization
• Scientific libraries for parallel and GPU programming
• GPU-optimized machine learning frameworks
But the Summer School was not only lectures and training sessions – students also had the opportunity to discover more about Ticino: the program included a visit of the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), two social dinners (one at the Lido di Lugano and another at Grotto del Tiglio), and an excursion to Monte Generoso and Gole della Breggia.
Below you can see some pictures of the event.
A special thanks goes to Radim Janalik and to the official photographer Matteo Aroldi for these great photos!
