Background

  • 2006 – 2012 Industrial mathematics studies, TU Kaiserslautern, Germany and LTH, Sweden
  • 2011 – 2017 Research assistant, Fraunhofer ITWM, Germany
  • 2017 – Present Software engineer, CSCS

My focus
My current focus is on the development of a CI/CD system, which our external partners can use to easily connect to the supercomputer and run their CI jobs. Another focus is on the development of internal DevOps practices. As a side project, I help our PASC partners when they have trouble with software deployment and setting up user environments.

What working at CSCS means to me
I enjoy working at CSCS because we are contributing to something useful for society. We enable our partners to do their science, which is necessary to tackle problems that humans face today or will face in the future.

What I like most about my work
At CSCS, I have the freedom to do many different works, from designing the software architecture to implementing and debugging software issues. My job is not constrained to only one aspect of software development but covers the full range.

What are the challenges I face
One of the challenges I am facing is finding the work with the highest priority. There are so many things to do, and it is sometimes hard to navigate and find out what needs to be done first and where I might be blocking colleagues from making progress on their work.
